The slate tiles are calibrated at the back. Being a natural stone, the thickness of slate can vary slightly. Several formats are available.
Available in a wider variety of sizes. The surface of slate when dry is paler in color. The black slate becomes dark gray-blue. When she gets wet, she becomes dark black. This dark black look can be maintained by applying a color enhancer sealant. It can also maintain its natural appearance without adding sealer or using a neutral sealant.
The natural cleavage of slate has the fineness of the grain surface, this finish gives an incomparable wealth to slate. The fine natural grooves give it anti-slip properties. From an aesthetic point of view, the natural finish gives a rich and refined look that is not found in other natural stones such as granite, marble, quartz, etc.
In addition to the natural cleaving finish of slate, it is also possible to obtain a polished surface finish. This finish is achieved by sawing the slate parallel to the bedding and polishing the surface with diamond tools to remove tool marks and achieve a perfectly level surface. This finish is particularly interesting because it exposes the grain of slate sliced on its way, a bit like a piece of wood cut in the same direction. It is particularly popular for countertops and floors. It should be noted that slate with a polished finish, however, remains dull in appearance.

A slate floor enhances the aesthetic side of a room. This enhancement can be accentuated by embalming the soil with turpentine oil. This technique will also protect the color of the slate.
