What is efflorescence ?

A natural phenomenon that results in the formation of a whitish limestone deposit on the surface of concrete products. It often gives a faded, spotted or discoloured appearance and is much more visible on dark colours such as charcoal. This chemical reaction is caused under certain climatic conditions and by the materials used during manufacture. However, this does not affect the quality and durability of the product. Usually, this manifestation disappears on its own after a certain time. This process varies according to weather conditions and can be precipitated using the HD Paving Block Preparer. We are in no way responsible for this phenomenon and the consequences that may result from it.

What is Polymer Sand ?

Polymer sand is used to fill the joint, with the empty space between each pavement of a landscaping project. Made of fine grains, to which a mixture of additives is added that is activated when in contact with water, polymer sand acts as an ultra-powerful binding agent that firmly holds several concrete blocks together in a homogeneous manner. Because it contains additive particles, polymer sand forms a durable and uniform joint. This eliminates any risk of weed growth or ant proliferation affecting the longevity and aesthetics of the landscape. Noting the popularity of Techniseal polymer sand among paving stone installation experts, several manufacturers have tried to imitate the formula with varying degrees of success. Nearly 20 years after launching the ball, we are proud to still offer the most efficient polymeric sands in the industry, those that are best suited to the growing expectations of paving stone installers and their customers. With Techniseal, the results are guaranteed !

What kind of soil can I use if I want to plant grass ?

There are several possible choices. The best thing is to have a soil rich in components. Mixed Earth is the most economical, however, it can contain small stones. The Super Mix is the most expensive. It contains a lot of organic matter. The Horticultural Soil, average price, it retains soil moisture by the Peat Moss it contains. It is rich in organic matter. It is recommended to spread a maximum of 2 inches thick because of its spongy effect. Some landscapers use black soil. Brown soil that is too sandy and backfill soil is not recommended because it can be too clayey and difficult to work with. In addition, these two lands do not contain compost or fertilizer.

What kind of soil can I use to lay grass ?

The brown earth or commonly called "Top Soil". Turf rolls do not need soil rich in organic matter. This soil is a homemade mixture that is screened with excavated soil and sand. It is the most judicious choice in terms of quality / price. It is recommended to spread at least 3 to 4 inches of brown earth before laying. The mixed soil can be used, if we want to give it a little richer soil. The latter contains excavated soil, sand and humus, which is homemade.

Why do I have to excavate and put 0-3/4'' stone for my paved parking ?

In the climate we live in, the soil is often clayey. During freeze-thaw cycles, clay swells and deflates, causing the ground to move and paving stones to often break apart, swell, etc. By excavating, we remove part of this clay soil. And by replacing it with crushed stone, we stabilize and strengthen the foundation.
