This rock is of color and surprising quality, a sweet purple pink, turning red to an orange-red.
Stones with guillotined wall.
Red basque sandstone.

Basque sandstone is a quartzite arenite, very porous, with a fine to medium grain size.
The color varies, ranging from pinkish brown to red to creamy white, or red and creamy white.
The brown and red color is given by the presence of hematite.
Mostly used for architectural construction in Quebec but also in the United States.
